There are a lot of people that love to use basketball as a good way to get regular exercise, and a way to get a fun taste of competition. What most people overlook when playing basketball is the importance of good rebounding.

First, when you are looking at becoming a better basketball player you should examine your strengths and weakness. Understand that to be a good basketball player you need to be aggressive on both ends of the court and prime yourself to stay active through the entire duration of each game.

When people consider themselves aggressive the first stat they should look at is their effectiveness at rebounding the ball. Rebounding is critical and can often times make the difference in a game, have a team who is rebound oriented is a great way to ensure victories.

When you decide to start working harder to rebound the ball you should first start by increasing your endurance. A good way to do this is to increase you regular running exercise by 10 minutes, then every ten days you can increase it again.


Increasing the distance and pace that you run is a guaranteed way to help increase your stamina and ultimately increase you rebounding skills. Take the time to work hard and keep in mind that you are working towards a goal.

Second, work on being able to know where the ball is going after each missed shots. Being the first one to know where the ball is going makes it easier for you to be in position to snag the ball and tally another rebound.

When you are practicing basketball take time to stand under the hoop while everyone else is warming up, then try to put yourself in the best position to rebound the ball. Putting yourself in the right spot only gets you so far, it is critical that you work on your form and increase your vertical jump.

A lot of people don’t know how to increase distance they can jump off the ground. The first thing you should examine is your form, then work on doing a good leg workout at least once a week, as times goes on you strength will increase and your form will become muscle memory.


Third, you need to ensure that you are aggressive on both ends of the court at all times when you are in a game. When you put yourself in position to rebound a ball there is a good chance that someone on the other team will be there to contest your efforts.

It is important that you know how to utilize your body weight and your strength to keep the other person from moving you out of the way. Let the rest of your team know that you plan to increase your rebounding skills, they will be sure to help you at all costs.

Rebounding in basketball is a statistic that not enough people take pride in. With some hard work and consistency you can increase your effectiveness at rebounding and ultimately increase your overall skill set. Solid rebounding is key to a good basketball team and when you can help with that effort you will be a very valuable team member.
