It is important to learn how to be healthy all year long. Each season presents various challenges that can best be met by following certain rules of health.

In the macrobiotic diets that are used by the Orient, we can learn how foods of each season will help a person to deal with that season better. There are also some various exercise methods that you can implement to keep yourself healthier.

Let’s start with Winter. Winter is a very cold time when a person can get sick very easily. One of the biggest reasons that people get sick in the winter is because this is the time that vitamin D levels are the lowest.

You can try to figure out how to get some sunshine on your skin. But, you may need to get yourself tested to see what your levels are and find the most natural source for vitamin D supplements.

Winter is a great time to exercise outside because you can warm up your body by running or riding a bike. You can also exercise in your own home with exercise equipment if you don’t want to get outside.

Foods that are high in fat can be a good choice in the winter. Fat tends to be built in a protective layer under the skin to insulate you during the cold.

You can add olive oil, which is a more natural source of oil to your recipes. Or, you can consume nuts which have a high fat content or have animal products if you feel you need to eat them to help you stay warm.

Springtime is a cleansing time in which there are certain cleansing fruits and vegetables that grow well in the spring that happen to be great for this. Cherries, radishes, certain greens and many other foods are good to eat during this time.

The summer brings a lot of heat with it and it is not a good idea to eat heavy foods. The fruits and vegetables that grow in the summer have a cooling effect for the body and help in adjusting to the heat.

Watermelons, cucumbers, tomatoes, green peppers, and other common summer produce items tend to be watery and cooling. Eating more of these types of foods and a lot less of the winter foods will help a person to deal with the heat better.

It is important to expose your skin to the sunlight a lot during the summer. This will help your body to absorb and store plenty of vitamin D for the winter.

Swimming is a great exercise to stay fit with in the summer. There are also certain sports and hiking that can be fun and beneficial for health.

During the fall as the weather starts to turn colder, the fruits and vegetables that come on later in the season will help to build up the blood in preparation for colder times. Peaches, winter squash, certain nuts and seeds, and many other food items are helpful in this regard.

It is good to pay attention to what kinds of produce grown in each season and to try to eat in accordance with the seasons. This will help your body to adjust to whatever happens with the weather and to stay healthy.
