Before you play in a football game you need to be prepared both mentally and physically. The pregame ritual in which you follow is crucial to your success and it should not ever be taken lightly. A lot of players out there struggle with this because they just go with the flow instead of establishing a unique pregame ritual.

An important part in this is realizing that if you follow your pregame ritual correctly it will help you be successful come game time. If you are always following your routine you will be able to focus on the game and play better.

Among the major team sports in America football is the most important when it comes to getting prepared to play the game. Your routine should help you get physically and mentally prepared for the game you are going to be playing shortly.

In football the usual pregame time you will want is about two hours before the game is to start. This way you will have enough time for everything you need to get done which includes stretching, doing drills, and preparing your mental side of the game.

When you're in the locker room do not just chill and relax you need to get ready as quickly as possible. You will need to know the location of your locker fast so you have more time to prepare for the game. If it's a home game you shouldn't have a problem finding your own locker.

If you are playing an away game you will want to make sure you know where your locker is. A coach or someone else may help you out by placing a piece of tape or something with your name on it on the locker in which you are going to be using for the game.

Make sure you put the correct pads in the correct openings in your uniform because you don't want to mess it up and end up looking like a fool! Go ahead and put on your gear and get ready to play the game.

Make sure to make a quick stop by the physical therapist before the game if you have any minor injuries you want to take care of. Healthy players will still want to be wary if they are concerned about anything they think they might have problems with. Better to be safe than to be sorry.

Sadly a very common injury in the game of football is ankle sprains. If you have any problems with your ankles it is highly recommended that you see the physical therapist and get your ankles taped up nice and tight.

You will be able to move side to side better if your ankles are tapped because they will have much more support. You can manage just fine without tapping your ankles it's just a personal decision you will have to choose.

That's the last step. You are now prepared to go out and have some fun playing the great game of American Football!
